Similar to a couple of the other authors, I did not grow up writing or watching hockey.  That does sound pretty bizarre considering that both writing and hockey take up most of my free time.  I always loved to read, but writing never was my forte.  Now, I have no regrets with finding out about writing and watching hockey every day.  Although this path has nothing to do with my current career choice, I write because I love it.  Writing gives me a release from the world around me and offers me therapeutic benefits I’ve never thought possible.
Right now, I am studying the field of Exercise Science at my college and I am debating whether or not I want to minor in Writing or not.  I am an avid fan of NHL hockey (still deciding who is my favorite team….there’s so many options), geocaching/Pokemon nerd, and I love to interact with new people along the way.  I hope to meet a lot of cool people because of these tales, so don’t be afraid to find me on social media!

What is your favorite book?

It depends on what mood I’m in.  Honestly, the best YA series I have read is The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter.  A favorite series of mine I read when I was younger is the Kingdom Keepers series by Ridley Pearson or The 39 Clues by a ton of authors.

What is your favorite movie?

Hmmmm, this is a great question.  It is hard for me to sit down and watch a movie for too long, so maybe the first two Pokemon movies because of their length??  Or Descendants since it is so short as well.

What is your favorite song?

“Village” by Cam or anything by her probably.  She just is an amazing artist and I find inspiration through her lyrics, not to mention she has a phenomenal voice.

What is your favorite color?

Jeez, that’s tough.  It really depends on my mood, sometimes I like green, orange, black, can’t I just say the whole rainbow??

Who is your favorite real life hockey team?

See, now I can rant and rave here about different teams.  I used to like the Dallas Stars, but since they hired the KFC mascot of the year, I don’t really support them anymore.  Plus, the old coach drove away my favorite player and I was mocked as a bandwagoner.  I’m bouncing in between the Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and maybe the Stars.  I said maybe for a reason.

Who is your favorite hockey player (woman and man or just man)?

Valeri Nichushkin is my favorite player of all time, but I do tune into the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Lightning)for Matthew Peca, and finally Ryan-Nugent Hopkins or Milan Lucic round out my list.

Who is your favorite character that you’ve written about in a story you’ve created?

Ooof, I would probably have to say Matty Peca or myself.  I mainly focus in on writing fanfiction, and I put a lot of emotion into what I write.  For example, I wrote an imagine when I was angry at certain people and it turned into a whole story.

What got you interested in writing?

Okay, I always enjoyed writing, but it was never something I would pursue on my own.  The other three authors inspired me to write some fanfiction, and the rest is history.

How often do you write for and where?

Whenever I can write or if I need a release from life, I try to sit down and write.  If I could write anywhere, it would be in the middle of the woods, but most of the time I write when no one is around me or when I’m mad in the comforts of home.

What advice do you have for young writers?

Don’t let anyone influence what you want to write.  If you want to write about hockey players in Avondale, do it.  If you want to write about being kidnapped by the WWE, just do it.  You write what is going to be the best story for your eyes only.  If you gain readers along the way, that’s a win.

What is something that people don’t know about you?

I play lacrosse.  I tend to mix my lacrosse terminology with ice hockey, and it actually works to a degree with both of them because they are very similar.  The only issue is that one is played on turf and the other is on the ice.
